BBC reported today that touch screen technology will be built into Windows 7. Touch screens is something that has been slow in coming into mainstream computing but I think it's gonna take off in a big way over the next 3 years.

When I was in Bangkok last week I got a chance to visit the IT shopping centre Pantip Plaza and spent 5-10 minutes playing around with the HP Touchsmart, HP's quite affordable desktop pc which has touch screen capabilities.

I have to admit I was very impressed with it. Browsing through pictures, music and videos worked very like using an apple iphone or itouch. It would be a very cool addition to anyones living room and would be a great music and video centre.

The screen was 25" in size so it could be used as your main television if you wanted it too. You can buy a touchsmart for about £1,300 just now but I reckon this price will come down quite a bit over the next year or so, certainly when other computer companies start developing their own touch screen brands.
