Thread: Zune

    Default Zune

I don't have one, but had considered getting one in the past. As I'm in need of a more practical MP3 player solution and would rather boycott the iPod if possible, I'm wondering if it's really worth getting one (Zune)..

I heard that it sucks from some people, while others said it was great. I believe Kev has one, I hope he can give some input on it.

I got the original zune when it was first released. I was living in Auckland in New Zealand at the time so I had to import it.

I liked it. It was a bit bulky but had a good build. ipod is probably a better option if I'm honest but it's still a good player.

The wifi exchange thing they had was stupid. It let you send songs to other zunes but once they were received you could only play them 3 times. What the hell is the point in that.

I see, thanks for the info.

As for the wifi share thing, it's probably like that due to legal and DRM issues. I mean I'm sure some music artists wouldn't be too happy that users can easily swap songs..And after all it is Microsoft, had it been a smaller company I'm sure they wouldn't have cared and let people do whatever they want with the music.

yes that will be the issue. My point is, why did they bother adding this feature. It's completely pointless. Why would you send a track to a friend so he can listen to it 3 times when you can just hand him your zune and let him listen himself.

Good point, but I imagine they just did it more for a gimmick thing and to misrepresent it. I mean besides that feature, the iPod can do all that..So they had to hammer out as many "unique" features as possible even if they're pointless. But in a way it is kind of useful, as your friend could get it and then once at home play the track to remember what it is as often - or at least myself, forget the name of a song and that would prevent that from happening.
