8 Megapixel Mobile Phone Madness

In the last year mobiles have been getting more and more fantastic features installed as the norm. GPS was originally added to Nokias top range phones however even their mid range phones are now getting GPS support. Nearly all of the cheapest phones on the market have a megapixel camera and most have MP3 and video support too.

With so many 5 megapixel cameras coming out in the first half of 2008, you might not be too surprised with what the high end mobile phones of the next 6 months will have : more powerful cameras.

Here’s a preview of some of the 8 Megapixel mobiles which will be hitting the streets in the next 6 months

Sony C905

The Sony C905 is a great looking cybershot phone which sony are releasing around October this year (maybe a bit later in the UK). It boasts a 8.1 megapixel camera with an xenon flash and face detection auto-focus, 16 digital zoom, geotagging, smart contrast and an image stabilizer.

The phone also has A-GPS, HSDPA, wifi, 160mb internal memory (with 2GB M2 card included) and DLNA sharing, the new technology which lets you send data to other electronic devices via wifi (eg. your TV). This slider phone has a 2.4″ screen and is roughly the same size as Nokia’s N95.

Samsung’s INNOV8 8510

The Samsung INNOV8 (previously called Samsung Primera) is a beautiful looking phone which boasts a 8 megapixel camera with face recognition, smile and blink recognition, auto panorama mode and geotagging. Unfortunately, it has a dual power LED instead of an Xenon flash.

This HSDPA powered phone has 128 internal memory and will be available with 8GB or 16GB internal memory though there is also a microSD slot for additional storage should you need it. Like the Sony C905, the INNOV8 has GPS, Wi-Fi and DNLA. It also has a large 2.8″ screen. Apparently this gorgeous 8 megapixel beast will be released within the next 2 months.

Expect More

You can expect a lot more 8 megapixel cameras to be released in the next 6 months to a year. LG are rumoured to be releasing a new 8 MP cameraphone called the LG KC910 however as yet very few details have been released. Rest assured, the days of carrying lots of electronic devices around with you are getting numbered
