Skype Meets PSP
I use Skype all the time to connect with family and friends back home, so news of its arrival on the PSP platform piqued my interest. Compatibility will be unlocked with newer model PSP’s (sorry early adoptors, not enough RAM) with the new 3.90 firmware update, available now. With 1MB of memory, you’ll hear that familiar gurgle-pop log-in sound in no time.
This interests me so much more than the iPhone’s ATT service. I can’t see myself buying a traditional phone plan next time around, hopefully Skype’s adaptation to so many different channels will bring it some much-needed mainstream exposure.
Suckers who bought the first-generation Thick ‘n Chunky PSP’s can look forward to the Go!Messenger service, Sony’s very own communication software which features video and voice chat. Curiously, you won’t be able to use this until the next firmware update.
