I downloaded Mega Man 9 last night. It cost £6.99 but because the game is only 65mb in size it was an incredibly quick download.
First impressions? Well, the graphics are the same as they were in mega man and mega man 2. Seriously, it feels like you're playing mega man 2 through an emulator or something. It's not like bionic commando rearmed which has improved graphics and great music, everything about it is retro.
Another thing, this game is hard. In your first shot at the game you might even struggle to get to the end of the first bad guy. There doesn't seem to be a traditional learning curve, you're effectively thrown in at the deep end.
This isn't a bad thing though. The old mega man games were hard too. You can't just walk through them like most next generation games. You need to play a level several times to figure out how to beat certain enemies and avoid spokes and holes etc.
All in all I'm pleased with it and I'd recommend it to any retro fans. It's not as good as bionic commando rearmed but it's definately worth £7.
:D
