Shuttle PC with built in monitor

Akihabara News (http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-16731-The+Shuttle+D10+now+available+on+the+Japanese+Mark et.html) have announced details of the DC10, a new shuttle pc which is out this week in Japan. The shuttle has an integrated 7 inch lcd screen at the front.



For around 330€ you get a Core 2 Duo E4000 Series, a Dual Core E2000 Series or a Celeron 400 Series plus 2GB of DDR2 (up to 4GB), a Realtek AL C662 (5.1 Channel Audio Support) and four USB ports.

When I first saw this I thought that it was pretty cool but after thinking about it, this is nothing more of a gimmick and I really can't see what use there is for a 7 inch screen on a shuttle. It's not like you are going to use a shuttle pc when travelling and it's not like you would use this 7 inch screen as your main monitor so it kind of defeats the whole point of it.

I love seeing new gadgets. 80% of gadgets which are released in
Japan are never released elsewhere in the world. Sometimes this is annoying as there are some cool devices which never see the light of day in the states or europe. But in this case, I can understand why no one is releasing it in the UK (who knows, maybe someone will pick it up).

Woah! I used to drool over Shuttle Pc's on eBay when I was looking for a desktop, there are some awesome custom Shuttles but, with that LCD screen, this is possibly the coolest looking Shuttle PC Ive ever seen.......that said, I have to agree, it's a gimmick, it's not exactly useful/practical so it's pretty pointless in my opinion.

Gimmick indeed, but very cool.
Would be great for multi-tasking I think. Also if you have a netbook and don't want a gigantic screen (well, 14"+ looks huge after 10" and less).

so, its like a fat laptop! I've been looking at so many cool things that i want to get, but I need none of them. this is another thing that would be cool to have, but tis not needed. It's almost as if the designers have been like 'what can we put on it?' and someone shouted out 'a toaster' 'a coffee maker''I know - a screen'
I'd rather have a coffee maker built into the front.

I think speakers should have been added there instead, as well as a clock display. So if it was in your room, and on a desk, could also be used as a clock :D, possible an alarm too :p.

yeah, an alarm clock radio, that works when the pc is off thats a cracking idea=) and a coffee maker, and a george forman built into the top of it!!
or a snes built into the top of it, one that takes the actual carts, The screen would be cool if it was a detachable wireless tablet kind of thing, that you could use as a fancy kind of mouse.
