I've downloaded several games from the playstation store in the last year, including :
command & conquer - ps1 classic - £3.50
Crash Team Racing - ps1 mario kart rip off - £3.50
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix - £6.99
Mortal Kombat 2 - Arcade classic - £3.50
Bionic Commando Rearmed - Reinvention of Nes classic - £6.99
Mega Man 9 - A new adventure in the style of the nes classics mega man 1 & 2 - £6.99
Wipeout HD - Futuristic Racer - £11.99
I've been happy with pretty much all the games I have downloaded and there are a few games I will probably download in the next few months. I will definately be downloading Street Fighter 2 HD Remix and I quite fancy the remix of the classic of Prince of Persia (£7.99).
Recently though there has been a big price drop in some of the older games in the ps3 catalogue. Xbox 360 owners can get games even cheaper. Which is why I have been questioning buying games through the online store as often in the future.
I recently picked up assassins creed for £9.99 and tiger woods 08 for £12.99 (it's now down to £9.99). These are brand new games which will include the disc and case etc so you have the option of selling them at a later date, or at least trading them in. Something which you can't do with downloaded games (obviously).
I think there's a need for the online games to be reduced a little. In particular some of the old ps1 games need to come down in price as they haven't changed anything. I understand the need for a game like bionic commando to have a £6.99 pricetag as they put a lot of work into it (I'd be happy to pay more for that game as it was great). However, some of the old ps1 and arcade games are a joke. They haven't been improved or upgraded in any way which is why I think the prices need to come down. Plus they have burnout paradise for £25 online when you can get it for £15 brand new in the shops!
It's even worst on the Wii where old commodore 64 games from 20+ years ago are being sold for a few quid. It's crazy.
Has anyone else been buying a lot of games via the online stores?
I will still download some games from the store but I will try and only buy games I really want as you can get some great bargains.
