I had to laugh when I read this story (http://gizmodo.com/5075094/ea-recommends-users-guess-their-serial-numbers) today. EA sent out thousands of copies of Command & Conquer 3 with serial codes with only 19 characters. However in order for the game to work you need to enter 20 characters.

This was EA's helpful suggestion :

There is currently a work around that may allow you to bypass this issue. Since you have the first 19 characters of the code already, you can basically try "guessing" the last character. To do this, simply enter your existing code, and then for the last character, try the letters A-Z, and then the numbers 0-9. You should eventually get the right combination, and be able to play the game.So basically you have a chance of entering your serial 36 times before you get the right one. Thanks EA. I went through your terrible suggestions a few years ago when VF2 clashed with every major pc software.

lololololol, excellent!
I have had this issue before with an EA game - battlefield2 I had to call them and get a new serial the day it came out cos the game said mine wasnt valid! it was a bit of a pain - I had to send them a photo of mt holding the game and the box and the card and my receipt for it before they would give me a new one!
