PS3Fanboy (http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/09/02/official-ps3-headset-priced-at-5000-yen-in-japan/) released some pictures of the upcoming official PS3 headset from Sony. The headset has been released in Japan for 5000 yen which is just over £25.

Apparently it's much better than the jabra headset they bundled with Warhawk last year.

I'm sure there are many gamers who, like me, have bought bluetooth headsets already so won't need this. I'm using a sony ericsson headset so unless this thing has incredibly battery life and superior sound levels, I doubt I'll get this. :)

GiantRealm (http://giantrealm.gameriot.com/gaming/sony-releases-details-on-new-bluetooth-headset) has posted more details about the new headset.

Headset Details:

Easily accessible Mute button makes it gamer-friendly
Includes charging cradle.
Bluetooth 2.0 compliant.
8 hours talktime/300 hours standby
30 feet (~10 meter) operating range
Automatically pairs with PS3 when connected with included cable

SOCOM: Confrontation (http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/action/socomconfrontation/index.html) is being released in the states for $39.99 but for $59.99 you get the headset with it. This is a pretty good deal, especially considering the headset itself costs $49.99.

I'm currently using a sony ericsson bluetooth headset but if the game is good and the headset deal is only £10 more in the UK I'll definately get that. I use it alot for call of duty but I wouldn't grudge paying slightly more for a good game if it means getting a better headset.
