That's my official review of Amazon :D.

Basically, I tried to buy a 26" Sony Bravia from them last week and they faffed about and messed me about until I cancelled the order and went to Tesco's and bought a TV there .

They have a new system to verify payments which basically consists of telling the customer to ring their bank and tell them that they made the purchase so that when Amazon contact your bank the bank is aware of it and will confirm your details to them. They tell you to ring your bank in such a 'matter of fact' way that it comes across as a n optional extra when in actual fact you HAVE to ring the bank or there is no payment going to be made and no order. I would have happily rung my bank if it had been made clear to me that I had to do that, which it wasnt.

After 2 days of Amazon expecting me to fax (who the hell has a fax machine these days unless you are a business? :|) my credit card bills to them because I hadnt ung my bank - in a day and age when we are told to protect those documents heavily, I told Amazon to stuff it. They wont get a penny from me, they even tried to charge me for the shipping on the tv even though I hadnt recieved it....

End of rant, I had to vent somehow, Im not angry with them now but, they made life difficult for a while and just because I wanted to pay them £400 of my hard earned cash.....:D.

yeah, amazon suck. ive never bought anything from them. I have used ebay a load of times, but that is only dealing with one person selling their stuff, not with a massive company. amazon wont phone your bank. that is a pile of crap. how many customers worldwide do they get in a day ? are they going to phone every single bank to confirm them all ?

I've never had any problems with Amazon.

I mostly just shop at Amazon for books. I had to return an expensive book there as it wasn't the one I wanted and I have to say, I had no problems. All I had to do was print off the returns sheet, attach it to the package and send it and within a week I had a full refund.

Sorry to hear that you had problems though.

I haven't had problems with them either, but like all companies, there will be some good and bad incidents as no one is 100% perfect.

As far as the faxing goes, you'd be surprised at how many businesses still require documents to be faxed. I still have my fax machine hehe.
