If you are new to COD4 then you might be confused why some players have very different icons next to their name than those who apparently are on the same level. The reason for this is 'Prestige Mode'.

When you have reached level 55 of COD online you will then get the option of choosing prestige mode (after another 5000 or so experience points). If you do this you will lose all of your unlocked perks and weapons and your challenge scores will go back to 0. In return, you get a a new special icon next to your name to show everyone how good you are. You can complete the game 10 times so in a way there are 550 levels to complete in total.

Is it worth going 'Prestige'? Some players have regretted whilst others are glad they did it as they didn't want to waste their XP. Nearly everyone finds that completing the game the 2nd time is a lot easier since you are a better player when you first played the game and you should know the levels pretty well too.

No it shouldn't take any longer. It takes the same amount of xp rank to level up the first time and the 2nd, 5th etc.

I have taken a little longer after my first prestige. When I first started playing it I would try and unlock every gun and get 150 kills with it so that I got the 1000 xp but the more I played it, the more I couldn't be bothered with that and I just kept using my favourite guns (usually an LMG).

I previously didn't think prestige was worth it, but as I got closer to 55, and my friend already having reached 55, I felt when she played it was a waste of XP. So yeah, when I got closer to 55, I felt that if I didn't go prestige I might not play as much, as I wouldn't be trying to rank up. So, I've gone prestige and don't regret it

I'm approaching my 3rd (or 4th). I don't play COD as much as I used to, but I'll definately go for the next prestige again. It's good to use the crap guns again as it forces you to play better.

Can't remember the exact date off the top of my head but I believe it's out around November. The new game has some new features like co op story mode and tanks are apparently back.

I went prestige a couple of weeks ago after refusing to do it for a long time. Thanks for the list, I dont really know a lot about prestige so its good info for me.

I hope CoD5 is as good online as CoD4, it'll be a huge disappointment for me otherwise
